ABS SENSOR FOR 2019 FORD FOCUS is part of the vehicle’s electronic braking system. This intelligent braking system prevents wheel lock-up during emergency or sudden braking. The ABS sensor, often called the ABS Wheel Speed Sensor, detects the speed of each wheel and transmits signals to the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) to control wheel slip. Older ABS sensor configurations had sensors located outside the wheel axle on other components such as the steering knuckle or differential housing. This measured the speed of the two drive wheels based on the rotation speed of the crown gear. However, ABS wheel speed sensors in current ABS systems are integrated into the wheel assembly itself. The ABS wheel speed sensor measures the rotational speed of a signal ring. This signal ring is mounted on the output of the half-shaft or wheel hub assembly. A vehicle may have one or four ABS wheel speed sensors at the wheels, depending on the vehicle’s system layout.

Modern vehicles typically have ABS sensor systems on 2, 3, or 4 wheels on completely independent channels. When the vehicle starts, the ABS system is activated only when the vehicle speed exceeds 10 km/h. At this time, the ABS warning light will illuminate and then turn off within a few seconds. ABS speed sensors have a relatively long lifespan, supporting up to 50,000 km of vehicle operation. Maintenance is recommended every 30,000-40,000 km to ensure optimal operation and driver safety. The ABS system is located in 2, 3, or 4 different locations with a complex structure. Therefore, when there is a problem with the ABS system, tests are needed to accurately determine if the issue is with the rotor or sensor.
